§ 12-2. Appointment, terms of board of control.

  • Pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statutes, Section 25:211 et seq., seven (7) individuals shall be appointed by the Ouachita Parish police jury as members of the board of control of the parish library of the Parish of Ouachita. One member shall be appointed from each of the police jury districts, and one member shall be appointed at large. Members of the board of control, together with the president of the Ouachita Parish police jury, who shall sit as an ex officio member, shall constitute the governing authority of the public library and such branch libraries and bookmobiles as may be hereinafter established. Each member of the board of control shall be appointed by the Ouachita Parish police jury to serve for a term of five (5) years, except for the president of the Ouachita Parish police jury as an ex officio member who shall serve for the term of his presidency. In lieu of serving as an ex officio member of the Ouachita Parish library board of control, the president of the Ouachita Parish police jury may appoint a member of the Ouachita Parish police jury to serve as an ex officio member of the board of control of the Ouachita Parish library. Upon such designation, the president of the Ouachita Parish police jury shall cease to serve as a member of said board. The term of the member so appointed shall coincide with the term of the presidency of the person appointing that member.
