§ 15-6. Fortunetellers.

  • (a)

    Itinerant defined. By "itinerant fortuneteller" is meant any person engaged in fortunetelling who has not established and maintained a bona fide residence in Ouachita Parish for at least one year.

    (b)

    Itinerant prohibited. Fortunetelling, in consideration for the payment of anything of value, by itinerant fortunetellers within the Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana, outside the corporate limits of incorporated villages, towns and cities is prohibited.

    (c)

    Privilege tax. Any person engaged in fortunetelling shall pay to the police jury of Ouachita Parish a privilege tax of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per annum.

    (d)

    Penalty. Anyone who violates this section shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisoned for not more than twelve (12) months, or both.
