§ 19-10. Wires crossing or along roads.

  • (a)

    All owners of telephone, telegraph or other lines running along or across the public roads shall proceed at once to so repair or replace their wires and poles, that they shall in no way impede or become a menace to public travel.

    (b)

    The said wires securely fastened to upright poles or trees shall cross the public roads only when and where reasonably necessary, and shall then be securely swung or hung at a minimum height of twelve (12) feet after due allowance for sagging.

    (c)

    When running along or near the said roads the said wires shall be on such poles or trees so set and maintained, as not to fall or lean, and it shall be unlawful to permit them to overhang the said roads at a lower level than the above minimum.

    (d)

    No poles or any other obstructions of any nature whatsoever shall be so set or placed on or along the said roads so as to in any way interfere with travel, or with the right-of-way, drainage or repairs to the same.

    (e)

    All violators of any of these provisions shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be liable to a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor more than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and all costs for each separate offense; said fines to go into the road fund.
