§ 1-3. Duties of president.
The following are the duties and authority of the president or president pro tem of the police jury of the Parish of Ouachita:
(1)
He shall preside at all meetings of this body except in case of disability or absence.
(2)
He shall cast the deciding vote in case of a tie vote.
(3)
He shall appoint committees and shall be ex officio chairman of each committee.
(4)
He shall have control and direction of the court square buildings and parish prison, except in cases provided by ordinance adopted by the police jury.
(5)
He shall appoint officers to fill vacancies occasioned by death or resignation.
(6)
He shall call special meetings of the police jury in case of emergency or for the benefit of public interest.
(7)
He shall in all other matters affecting public interest take prompt action and make report to the police jury for its approval.
