§ 1-6. Fees for coroner.

  • (a)

    There is hereby established the following schedule of fees and costs for medical assistance and investigations to be furnished police agencies in the Parish of Ouachita and the coroner's office of the Parish of Ouachita, to wit:

    Service     Fee

    (1)

    Service fee and warrant investigations requiring the services of a coroner, a deputy coroner or an investigator .....$30.00

    (2)

    Investigations requiring the services of the coroner or a deputy coroner and an investigator .....60.00

    (3)

    Viewing the bodies and issuing the necessary papers and reports .....30.00

    (4)

    Autopsy .....300.00

    (5)

    Mental investigations, interdictions and commitments .....30.00

    (b)

    For the performance of other medical services, the coroner's office shall receive a reasonable fee in accordance with the schedule of fees provided by law.

    (c)

    The coroner of the Parish of Ouachita shall render to the Ouachita Parish Police Jury on the first day of each month a statement of medical services furnished by him, which shall include the name of the physician providing such service, the place of services rendered, the name and domicile of the patient and such fees therefor.

    (d)

    The coroner of the Parish of Ouachita may include in his statement for services rendered not to exceed thirty dollars ($30.00) for mental investigations provided same be requested and referred to him by one of the following agencies, to wit:

    (1)

    Monroe City Police Department

    (2)

    West Monroe City Police Department

    (3)

    Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Department

    (4)

    Ouachita Parish District Attorney's Office

    (5)

    Monroe City Attorney's Office

    (6)

    West Monroe City Attorney's Office

    (7)

    City Judge of the City of Monroe

    (8)

    City Judge of the City of West Monroe

    (9)

    Judges of the Fourth Judicial District Court

    (10)

    Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center

    (11)

    Alcoholics Anonymous

    (12)

    Mainline

    (e)

    The president of the Police Jury of the Parish of Ouachita is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the coroner of the Parish of Ouachita providing for the payment of medical assistance in accordance with the schedule of fees herewith set forth.
