§ 1-79. Employee status.

  • (a)

    All employees of the Parish of Ouachita shall be classified as full-time, part-time, temporary or seasonal.

    (1)

    Full-time employee: An employee who works forty (40) hours per week on a regularly scheduled basis.

    (2)

    Part-time employee: An employee who works less than forty (40) hours per week, but on a regularly scheduled basis.

    (3)

    Temporary or seasonal employee: An employee who works in a position which is of a nonpermanent nature, (full-time or part-time). A temporary or seasonal appointment is of limited duration, ordinarily specified in advance.

    (b)

    Permanent employees, both full-time and part-time shall be entitled to all benefits as provided by the police jury. Temporary and seasonal employees shall not be entitled to any benefits unless specified by the police jury.

    (c)

    Temporary employees who become permanent without interruption of service shall accrue benefits from original date hired, provided they have successfully completed a ninety-day probation period. This policy also includes employees under federal grants.
