§ 1-95. Performance evaluation.
(a)
Performance evaluation is designed to help the supervisor and the employee measure how well the employee is doing the job and to provide a tool for management decisions regarding training, assignment, promotion and retention of employees.
(b)
The work performance of each permanent employee shall be evaluated in accordance with procedures established by the police jury. Employees of each department shall be evaluated each October with their merit raise, if deserved, to follow on each January. No merit raise shall be given within six (6) months of a promotion, a salary adjustment as a result of a salary survey, or a reclassification where an employee has received an increase. Scores shall be used as a management tool in making decisions regarding merit increases to be given at evaluation time, if deserving. Special evaluations may be authorized by the supervisor and personnel department.
(c)
Each employee shall be provided a copy of his or her performance evaluation. The supervisor shall discuss the report with the employee and shall counsel the employee regarding his or her career and any improvement in performance which appears desirable or necessary. Employee will sign his or her evaluation and be provided ample space for comment.
