Latest version.
  • If and when the disability of an employee is of the nature that he is entitled to payments under any workmen's compensation insurance which is in effect, he shall be entitled to paid sick leave in the amount necessary to raise his total payment of compensation, plus sick leave to the amount he was being paid at the time he became disabled. Workmen's compensation begins after seven (7) days of disability. He shall be paid at the regular sick leave rate (but not to exceed his accrued sick leave) up to the time workmen's compensation becomes effective, after which any remaining sick leave credit shall be used as prescribed above. In the event the disability continues after six (6) weeks, the employee is to receive workmen's compensation for the original waiting period. His accrued sick leave account shall be credited with sick leave in proportion to the amount he refunds to the parish to cover the waiting period.
