§ 20-14. Authority to make arrests and carry firearms.

The chief of Fire Protection District No. 1 of Ouachita Parish is authorized to issue a commission to any arson investigator of the district granting such investigator the authority to carry and use firearms and to make arrests for violations of those offenses set forth in R.S. 40:1563.1. Investigators receiving such commissions shall first be certified by the council on peace officer standards and training (P.O.S.T.) or be qualified by the P.O.S.T. council, or both.

The authority granted to the district's arson investigators through such commissions shall extend to all powers, function, duties and responsibilities set forth for local arson investigators in R.S. 40:1563.1 and shall not be construed to grant any authority not enumerated in said statute.
