§ 3-28. Procedure in dealing with live animals.

  • (1)

    Make every effort to locate animal if owner does not know of location of such. Treat people courteously at all times. If necessary, meet the public over half way in order to maintain good relations.

    (2)

    Humane actions will be used in handling all stock.

    (3)

    The range rider will make every effort possible to locate owner of said animal or animals. If owner cannot be located said animal or animals will be impounded.

    (4)

    Habitual violators will be prosecuted.

    (a)

    "Habitual" will be defined for this part as follows: 3 offenses written within a 90 day period. The third offense owner will be prosecuted.

    (5)

    All monies received will be turned into the treasurer of the Parish of Ouachita Police Jury.

    (a)

    All checks or money orders will be made out to the Ouachita Parish Police Jury.

    (b)

    All cash received will be turned over to the treasurer of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. (The range rider will have a receipt book with three receipts for each case.) The person paying monies will get a receipt. A receipt will be turned in with the monies and the range rider will have a copy for his files. The receipt book will be numbered in triplicate and letterheaded. All checks made out to any one other than the Ouachita Parish Police Jury will be handled in same manner as cash. A receipt will be given for all monies received. This receipt will show the date, amount, name of payee, the number of animals and how paid (cash, check or money order.)
