§ 7-46. Southern Natural Gas Co.
(1)
There is hereby granted to the Southern Natural Gas Company, a corporation organized and created under the laws of the State of Delaware, domiciled at Wilmington, within said state, its successors and assigns, a non-exclusive franchise right, privilege and servitude to construct, operate, and maintain in, over, under and along the public roads and highways of the Parish of Ouachita, Louisiana, not within the limits of any incorporated city, town or village, telephone and telegraph and other communication transmission poles and lines, in accordance with the requirements adopted by the department of state highways of the State of Louisiana, with respect to said transmission lines laid under, over and across said state highways.

This ordinance [section] is issued under and by virtue of the various acts of the Legislature of the State of Louisiana, authorizing the police jury of the parishes of said state to grant franchise for the crossing of the roads and highways of the various parishes, and more particularly Section 2743 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Louisiana, and all amendments thereto, and where said communication lines cross state highways they shall be governed by provisions of the State Highway Act, being Act 95 of 1921, and all amendments thereto.

The grantee herein named in accepting this franchise agrees and guarantees to hold harmless the police jury of the Parish of Ouachita, Louisiana and its individual members from any loss, damages or expense which they may suffer on account of the grant of this franchise and privilege and operations thereunder arising from any cause whatsoever in favor of any person, persons, partnership or corporation.

This franchise shall continue in full force and effect for a period of ninety-nine (99) years from and after the date of the adoption of this ordinance [section].
