§ 15-7. Gambling with cards.
(a)
Prohibited. By virtue of authority extended by the General Assembly of Louisiana in Revised Statutes of 1950, Title 33, Sections 4852 and 4853, gambling with cards, or any card game by whatever name the game may be called, at which anything of value is pledged, bet or hazarded, including private clubs with rake-off for gain, is suppressed and prohibited in the Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana.
(b)
Exceptions. This section shall not apply to any private game played in a private home occupied by a family as such, or games in private clubs, conducted without rake-off for gain. Any game of any nature, whether in a private home or private club, where rake-off for gain is taken by any person, it is not excepted by this subsection, and is a violation of this section.
(c)
Penalty. Any person or persons who violates the provisions of this section shall be fined a sum not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00), or imprisoned for a term in the parish jail not to exceed six (6) months, or both.
