§ 1-14. Recycling and Litter control board.

  • (a)

    Created. The Ouachita Parish Recycling and Litter Control Board be and hereby is established; said board shall consist of a minimum of fifteen (15) members and a maximum of twenty (20) members, as appointed by members of the police jury, with at least two (2) members to be appointed from each district.

    (b)

    Duties and responsibilities. Members of the board shall be charged with the responsibility of the following, to-wit:

    (1)

    Recommending to the Ouachita Parish police jury programs for the establishment of a recycling program in Ouachita Parish.

    (2)

    Coordinating efforts between the beautification boards or similar commissions established by Monroe, West Monroe, Sterlington or Richwood for the establishment of recycling programs and/or the abatement of litter in Ouachita Parish.

    (3)

    Assisting in the organization and conduct of recycling programs and the abatement of litter and to conduct litter drives in Ouachita Parish.

    (c)

    Authority. The authority of the Ouachita Parish Recycling and Litter Control Board shall be for the unincorporated areas outside the municipalities of Monroe, West Monroe, Sterlington and Richwood.
