§ 1-5. Social Security.

  • (a)

    Policy declared. It is hereby declared to be the policy and purpose of Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, to extend the provisions of Section One, Act No. 204, Regular Session, Louisiana Legislature of 1952 [being R.S. Section 42:1001], providing Social Security to eligible employees and officers of Ouachita Parish. The coverage of eligible employees shall be

    retroactive to January 1, 1951. In pursuance of said policy, and for that purpose the officers of Ouachita Parish shall take such action as may be required by applicable state or federal laws or regulations.

    (b)

    Agreement authorized. The president of the Police Jury of Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement with the Public Employees' Board of Louisiana to secure coverage of eligible employees as provided in subsection (a) hereof.

    (c)

    Withholdings. Withholdings from salaries or wages of employees for the purposes provided in subsection (a) hereof are hereby authorized to be made in amounts and at such times as may be required by applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and shall be paid over to the state agency in such amounts and at such times as are designated by state laws and regulations.

    (d)

    Employer contributions. Employer contributions and administrative expenses shall be paid the state agency in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations from amounts appropriated for such purposes.

    (e)

    Records, reports. The secretary-treasurer of the police jury shall maintain such records and submit such reports as may be required by applicable state and federal laws or regulations.
