§ 1-129. Emergency leave.

  • (a)

    The personnel director, with a recommendation of the department head, after ascertaining the exact circumstances, may grant a permanent employee up to three (3) working days per calendar year of paid emergency leave in the event of a death, disaster, serious injury, or serious or contagious illness within the employee's immediate family.

    (b)

    For the purpose of this section, "immediate family" is defined as parents, spouse, children, brothers, sisters, mothers-in-law, fathers-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, or any relative residing under the same roof.

    (c)

    Temporary or seasonal employees may be granted unpaid emergency leave in the above circumstances.
