§ 1-137. Notification of absence.

(a)

An employee who is absent from work for any reason is required to notify his or her supervisor before the scheduled start of work, if possible, and provide a reason for his absence. Unexcused absences of three (3) or more days per year is considered cause for dismissal. Excessive absences are also just cause for dismissal.

(b)

If illness is given as cause of absence, the department head reserves the right to required a written statement from the employee's physician and/or the Ouachita Parish staff physical when deemed necessary. All absences must be reported to the personnel department and on-time reports submitted semimonthly by all department head personnel responsible for submitting payroll information.
