§ 1-152. Safety.
(a)
Safety is the responsibility of both supervisory personnel and individual employees. It is their responsibility to make certain that all safety equipment is being used, and that all safety procedures and practices are observed. An employee found negligent in equipment operation, resulting either in damage to the equipment or an accident, shall be cause for disciplinary action as deemed appropriate. A second offense of this nature may result in dismissal.
(b)
The safe performance of all work assignments, without injury, is the police jury's primary concern. Only through the determined elimination of the cause of accidents can we reduce their frequency.
(c)
All employees, particularly supervisors, have the responsibility of reporting the existence of any hazardous condition or practice. Supervisors found to be negligent in requiring the use of prescribed safety equipment will be subject to disciplinary action.
(d)
Any accident occurring during normal working hours shall be reported to the immediate supervisor at once. The supervisor shall, in turn, notify the department head and the personnel department.
(e)
Upon notification of an accident, the department head shall complete an accident form which must be forwarded to the personnel office no later than forty-eight (48) hours after the accident in order that an employee may be covered under workmen's compensation insurance.
