§ 22-9. Emergency telephone service charge, Communications District.

  • (a)

    In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 31 of Title 33 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended (R.S. 33:9101—33:9106), there is hereby imposed within the boundaries of the Communications District (said boundaries being coextensive with the Parish of Ouachita, State of Louisiana) beginning January 1, 1987, and continuing after said date, an emergency telephone service charge amounting to three (3) per cent of the tariff rate for local telephone service supplied within the district for the purpose of establishing, maintaining and operating a "911" emergency telephone system.

    (b)

    The service charge shall be imposed only upon the amount of the tariff rate for exchange access lines or their equivalent, that charges for telephone equipment and long distance service shall be exempt from the three (3) per cent service charge imposed herein, and that exchange access facilities in excess of one hundred (100) per person per location shall be exempt from the three (3) per cent service charge imposed herein.

    (c)

    The charge shall be levied and collected in accordance with the provisions of R.S. 33:9106, a copy of which is attached hereto by reference as Exhibit "A."
