§ 3½-61. Permit requirements.

  • (a)

    A building permit shall be required for the construction of all structures or location of house trailers within the Parish of Ouachita excluding municipalities.

    (b)

    A building permit shall be required for all material alterations of any existing structure; for the purpose of this article a "material alteration" shall mean an addition to existing structure of an area equal to fifty (50) per cent of the of the area in square feet of the existing structure. "Material alteration" shall also mean any addition to an existing structure where the construction of or placement of sanitary sewerage facilities or plumbing in or adjacent to the proposed structure is proposed.

    (c)

    This subsection specifically prohibits the installation or connection of any utility or service to a building, sites, or location prior to the issuance of a parish building permit.

    It is the intent of this provision to require the builder to furnish proof of issuance of a parish building permit to the utility company prior to the connection or installation of utilities or service.

    Any builder who secures installation or connection of utilities or service by falsification of records or permits is deemed to be and is hereby declared to be in violation of this subsection, a misdemeanor, and any person convicted of such violation shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) or imprisoned not more than thirty (30) days, or both.
